Sistema is looking for a SolarWinds Network Administrator with our government client based in Austin, TX for a 1-year position.  

***This Hybrid position may require some onsite work at our client’s site in Austin, TX. Normal business hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.***

  • Performs administration, maintenance, optimization, and support of the SolarWinds environment.
  • Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain SolarWinds products and modules
  • Manage SolarWinds Orion/Hybrid Cloud Observability platform components
  • Configure polling engines, additional web servers, and database connectivity
  • Perform platform backups, disaster recovery, and system health checks
  • Monitor SolarWinds server performance and optimize polling loads
 Monitoring & Alerting
  • Network monitoring
  • Server monitoring
  • Application monitoring
  • NetFlow/traffic analysis
  • Log monitoring
  • Configuration management
  • Develop custom alerts, thresholds, and escalation workflows
  • Reduce false positives and improve alert accuracy
  • Create dashboards and operational views for IT teams and management
 Reporting & Analytics
  • Generate operational and executive reports
  • Build custom performance and availability reports
  • Analyze trends, bandwidth utilization, and capacity planning data
  • Identify recurring infrastructure issues and recommend improvements
 Network & Systems Integration
Integrate SolarWinds with:
  • Active Directory
  • BMC Remedy/Helix ITSM
  • Email/SMS alerting systems
  • SNMP, WMI, Syslog, and API-based monitoring
 Support monitoring for:
  • Routers
  • Switches
  • Firewalls
  • Wireless infrastructure
  • Virtual environments
  • Cloud resources
 Security & Compliance
  • Manage role-based access control (RBAC)
  • Maintain secure configurations and credential management
  • Support audit and compliance reporting
  • Apply vendor security updates and patches
 Troubleshooting & Support
  • Troubleshoot monitoring gaps and polling failures
  • Resolve SolarWinds platform performance issues
  • Coordinate with infrastructure teams during outages
  • Support root cause analysis and incident response efforts

  4 Required Administration and support of the SolarWinds Orion Platform (NPM, NCM, SAM, and related modules), including platform upgrades, patching, and new feature adoption.
  4 Required Familiarity with virtualization (VMware/Hyper-V) – 3 years
  4 Required Monitor and maintain a large-scale enterprise environment (1500+ devices)
  4 Required Design, implement, and optimize alerting strategies to reduce noise and improve response times
  4 Required Build and maintain NOC dashboards and executive reports for real-time and historical visibility
  4 Required Develop custom SQL queries and reports for availability, performance, and capacity tracking
  4 Required Automate workflows using tools like Microsoft Power Automate, Microsoft Teams, and Power BI
  4 Required Perform troubleshooting of monitoring issues, polling failures, and platform services
  4 Required Collaboration with network and infrastructure teams for root cause analysis and incident resolution
  4 Required Maintain documentation, standards, and monitoring best practices
  4 Required Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
  4 Preferred Network engineering experience-Cisco, Meraki, Fortinet, Juniper
  4 Preferred Public-sector or regulated environment experience
  4 Preferred Knowledge of networking fundamentals (BGP, OSPF, VLANs, routing/switching)
  4 Preferred SOP development and continuous improvement methodologies
